Juniper Networks Upgrading JUNOS Images on
  J2300 Platforms
Juniper J4300 and J6300 routers are currently equipped with 256 Mb
of compact lash (CF) by default, however most J2300 models currently
have 128 Mb of default CF. As large numbers of log iles are stored on
the J2300 compact lash, memory for JUNOS upgrades can sometimes
be limited. This document helps J2300 users successfully free the
memory resources necessary to upgrade their J-series router to the
latest JUNOS release.
Upgrading releases prior to JUNOS 7.2R3
If the router is running an earlier software version than JUNOS 7.2R3 or
7.3R2, the user might need to upgrade to JUNOS 7.2R3 or 7.3R2 before
upgrading to JUNOS 7.4 or later JUNOS releases. You can verify whether
or not this is the case using the J-Web interface and following procedure.
From the Manage tab on the J-Web interface, select the Software link
on the left-hand navigation bar and click Upload Software Package on
the Software menu.
